Who is Nakangae

My name is Nakangae Nakambunda, a 20-year old born and raised in the northern part of Namibia.  I am a medical student, doing my studies at the University of Namibia, School of Medicine. I am passionate about what I do, and I’m incredibly grateful to be where I am right now.

I consider myself a multipotentialite; I like to dabble in a lot of things. I thrive on challenge and I am always on the look-out for opportunities to better myself.

As most people know, I love fashion, terribly. It is a way of personal self-expression; it is a statement. I like to live in the moment, to make memories. I believe it is essential to always remind yourself in the morning that we’re all going soon, and thus, you should enjoy every moment, learn as much as you can and be kind.

What keeps you motivated to do what you do?

Well, as a medical student, working to better the community is what drives me to do what I do. Every day, even when I feel down and low, I remind myself that I am working for my people, and boy, does it feel good.

What drives my love for fashion is the need to express myself without saying anything. It varies with how I feel every day and that is the beauty of it. It is versatile and it is freedom.

Three things people don’t know about you?

1. I sew. I feel like this is quite obvious considering my passion for fashion. I once had a little clothing brand (@_by_tala on Instagram) but with the pressure of school, I am currently not active with it.

2. I really love Mathematics. I actively took part in the Math Olympics whenever they were held back in primary and high school and it was fun! Bummer that I do not really do as much of it anymore.

3. I am really tall. Like, really tall. I stand at 1,77m. (Yes, the air is great up here!)

I try to keep it as simple as possible with my outfits, and thus, I try to accessorize when I can to give significance to my look (plus, I love jewelry!)

The Fitted Blazer

Finding a fitted Blazer is really tough but listen, when you find it, take care of it because they’re really hard to come by. The blazer adds a professional touch to my outfits, which is definitely important for me as a student.

The Plaid Skirt

Every girl needs a little playful skirt. The Plaid Skirt is that piece for me. Pair it up with a pair of combat boots and boom, an E-girl touch.

The Straight-Leg Pants

Lately, this pair of pants has been doing me justice! They’re comfortable and they go well with crop tops and a pair of white sneakers (I wear mine with my high-cut Nike Air force 1’s).

The White Tee

This is a piece I cannot live without lol! The White Tee is the one piece I can wear with about anything in my wardrobe. It is so versatile; I absolutely cannot emphasize how essential it is. Definitely find a good quality one and you’re good to go (I get mine from either Cotton On or Woolworths).

The Crisp Button Up Shirt

Definitely a must-have for the casual but clean look I love. It goes so well with a pair of jeans. I particularly like this shirt when I want a minimalistic, chic look and it works every time.
